Re: [alfa] A/C interference with heater fan access?

You'll have to completely remove the heater (and A/C too) just to replace the fan. You don't want to start down that road! The discomfort and trouble you'll experience will be many times greater than the inconvenience of not having the fan. If the A/C still works, you can always use that to demist the windows when it rains. In winter, the heater puts out more than enough heat without the fan as long as the vehicle is moving. Take my advice - forget the fan. Thats what I'm doing now!

Gentle folks,

Case at hand: 1986 Spider Graduate (with A/C).

My manual says that heater box removal for fan replacement must follow A/C
air handler removal, and that this includes venting the refrigerant(!).
Please assist me with other and workable directions. I thought to split
the box at the clips (about midway top to bottom) as being the lowest
point the fan might actually move sideways. Does this include the heater
core? I'd be happiest if I could leave the core and A/C in place and
still pull the heater fan.

Thanks.
