[alfa] Re: engine running rough when cold

I would suspect really out-of-spec valve clearances. But it could easily be a sticking airflow meter, I suppose. At least that's easy enough to check.

Subject: [alfa] engine running rough when cold

Hello there,

My Milano's engine has a problem that it's getting worse with time, but only
when the engine is cold.

As soon as you release the clutch the engine runs rough unless you run it at
higher RPM's in other words is hard to get the car going without revving it up
(but the engine is cold)... but after a couple of minutes runs very smooth,
also sometimes the revs also drops down to 6-700 rpm.

I replaced the water temperature sensor and checked the auxiliary air
regulator and it seems to be fine (opened while on the freezer and closed when warmed
up) but I am not completely sure that is working at 100%

I first noticed the rough running engine after I used some fuel injector
cleaner and after that I read a section of the repair manual that says that the
valves could be causing the problem, am I looking for the problem in the wrong
place?

Three weeks ago I sent the injectors to get cleaned and replaced the fuel
hoses but the engine keeps running rough when cold, I also noticed (lately) that
gets worse when the outside temp gets colder

Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
