[alfa] stainless steel shims for brake pads

recently, there was some discussion about using stainless shims as
backing plates for brake pads to provide insulation. i've been starting
to look for a source, and am wondering if anyone has any specific
specs.

i'm looking at an option on the McMaster-Carr web site:

http://www.mcmaster.com/itmLookup/itmLookup.aspx?sesnextrep=429273403498938&searchstring=9011k89&tab=find&FastTrack=False&ftctlgpg=

type 304 stainless, 0.012" thick, 8" x 25" sheets, mill finish,
for less than $6 per sheet. i'm assuming i won't have any trouble
cutting this with aviation snips or tin snips. anyone have any comments?
am i looking at the right stuff or the wrong stuff?

thanks,
  richard
