[alfa] FS: 1991 164 in Albany NY

the 164 i was contemplating doing an engine and
tranny swap on has become surplus, either a project
for someone else or a parts source. it's not particularly
valuble, so i'm going to call this best offer, and it's
going to be out of here one way or another before winter.

here's an outline; email me off list for further details
if you're interested.

1991 164 base model, auto, white a northeastern
car, it appears to have lived in PA, NJ, and NY
most if not all of its life. not cosmetically brilliant,
but not totally awful either. it drove very well in snow,
and could make a very decent winter beater if the
problems were addressed.

the automatic leaks fluid, but not so fast you can't
keep ahead of it.

the engine is highly questionable, which is why i've
parked it. it does run, but hasn't been subjected to
any real driving since i decided to park the car. at
a minimum, it needs head gaskets and detailed
inspection of the valve train. a straight swap for
a known good engine is the most straightforward
thing to do here, i think, and what i would
do if i were keeping it.

i can probably arrange to have it trailered a
reasonable distance from Albany. i own a trailer
and can borrow a tow vehicle.

good parts:

new center and rear exhaust
new epiflex flex sections in front flex pipes
fuel pump last spring
fuel pump and engine relays last spring
new hood hinges (one installed, one in trunk)
new NAPA battery of correct size for the car.

2 year old right front hub, strut bearing,
       wheel bearings

1 1/2 year old radiator hoses, temp sensor,
   fan temp sensor, water pump

alfa pro gears in stepper motors
alfa pro reinforcement ring on drum

two good semperit snow tires on steel wheels
(remaining tires are pretty beat)

4 steel wheels
4 alloy wheels (ordinary 15" 164 alloys)

2 year old rear calipers and hand brake cables

other problems:

1) inoperative heater blower (could be any
   number of things, not comprehensively
   diagnosed.)

2) usual rust near fuel filler

3) usual fuel smell from trunk (probably
gasket or screws at fuel pump plate)

4) no real charge in A/C
