You're right about the Research Octane Number, but the R.O.N. is not
what you see at the pump.  The number at the pump is an average of the
RON and the MON (motor octane number).  The difference between the two
is that RON is determined with the motor with no load and the MON is
determined with a load.  87 Octane at the pump is 91 RON and 83 MON.

Andy - The owner's manual says to use 91 RON unleaded. I can't explain
why
with the KNs that it acts differently, but I do know that the SPICA
airbox
is more efficient and the car is suppose to have 91 RON fuel.
