[alfa] GTV6 rear shock upper mount nuts

In preparation for my ride up to NH in August, I would like to install the rear Koni's I have for the GTV6.  The fronts were a breeze but the rears look like the upper nuts are going to be a pain.  I didn't have this problem with the Milano.  
My question is:  Is the only way to get at the top nuts is to go through the trunk?  Or do I remove the seats and rear trunk cover to find a handy access hole?
