RE: [alfa] testing a regulator

Richard -

I apologize for the tardiness of the reply, but I have been way too busy and
have not been keeping up with the AD lately.

The alternator from a late(r) spider (mid to late 80's) or a Milano will
bolt right in. The wiring is plug and play, just remove the old regulator
and harness. Connect the red wire to the B+ terminal (usually a good idea to
replace this wire), and connect the green wire to the field terminal and
you're done.

Much more reliable and a larger capacity alternator too. I can look up the
part number for the Bosch rebuilt (AL#) tomorrow if you need it. I keep one
on the shelf as that is how common they are for most years of Alfas. One
number covers most everything from a 1750 through Milano.

just out of curiousity, what alternator would you substitute for the OE one
in a 74 GTV?

not that alternator has any problems right now, it's just good to know these
things in advance.
