[alfa] 74 GTV wacky wiring fun

right up front, i am expecting that i'll need to go on an extended hunt
for a grounding problem. now for the symptoms:

to provide some context, the turn signals have been behaving very
erratically for the past couple of weeks, and i'd been figuring to replace
the flasher unit.

this afternoon, trying to start the GTV, it cranked once then stopped, no
sign of electrical power at all. the battery terminals were all cranked down
tight; it started just fine a little earlier and i'd just driven it for about 5 miles
at a decent clip of 45-55 miles an hour.

after fooling around a little, a friend saw me and offered a jump. uncertain
why it was acting like it was, i figured a jump was worth a shot. while we
were just starting to hook up, i noticed that the left rear turn signal was
flashing, despite the apparent electrical deadness of the entire car. i
quickly returned the turn signal lever to the center position, and the car
started on the next try.

so bad ground, or something else? any suggestions? i'm not looking forward
to chasing this down.
