[alfa] 105 Benditalia Brake Boosters

Caxambu says: "I suspect one (or both) of my brake boosters leaking
fluid into the intake manifold. I am continually topping off the brake
fluid reservoir and never seeing any evidence of fluid leaking to the
outside. Not at sparkplug looks different than the others. Brake
function is good.

"What can I do to check this? Do the rebuild kits contain the necessary
parts to repair this?

"1969, dual servo (Benditalia), floor mounted MC."

Have someone follow you to see if there are fairly large puffs of white
smoke coming from the exhaust. If so, remove the one way valve on the
inlet manifold, thoroughly clean, both blow and suck through it. If you
get air both ways, get a new valve.

But, alas, it most likely won't be that easy. I'm guessing should / when
you remove the large diaphragm housing / housings, you'll find brake
fluid. The large diaphragm kit consists of the large diaphragm and the
end seal. The second kit consists of the smaller diaphragm and another
seal.

I've talked about this often in the past. If your brakes are working
fine, except for the disappearing brake fluid, just get the main
diaphragm kit. I'd replace the flex hoses while you're at it.

If you don't feel your boosters are functioning properly, call back.

[Who is about to order two brand spanking new Bonaldi brake boosters
(Benditalia and Bonaldi are identical - the Lockheed version, I believe,
takes a different kit and has an iron / steel housing)]
