[alfa] Carbs and Cats

Wow, I'm surprised this has not happened earlier. While webers are known for reasonable a/f control and better air flow than most carbs, they are not known for precise control that other carbs can do to make catalysts work reasonably well. Why do you think Stromburgs, variable vane carbs, and whatnot were used over webers?

Ok- a handful of misfires will cook a cat in just a few min, much longer, and the ceramic will melt. Carbs can do that on a whim. SO- what do you want to do? Meet emissions- put back on the Bosch; make cool noise- keep the webers and loose the cats.

Make power? Bosch. Check the power ratings- the Bosch returned the power back the the old days, and kept emissions decent.

Make race type power- either way, and loose the cats.

Eric
