Uprated brakes

There has been a lot of talk about the Stag brakes, as you may know I
race a Stag in the HSCC 70's road sports series, the regs state that you
are not allowed to modify the brakes, the original brake discs,
callipers, rear drums, brake cylinders and master cylinder must be
retaind, no ducting, venting, cross drilled or vented discs are allowed.

This was, I thought, going to be a problem, as many cars in the series
start to run out of brakes near the end of a 10 lap race. The last race
at Mallory Park was a 30 lap race, and the brakes held up well with no
fade or fluid boiling.

The only mods to the braking system are: competition disc pads,
competition rear brake linings, AP 600 competition brake fluid and
Aeroquipe flexible brake hoses.

The brakes perform exceptionaly well, and I am able to out brake most
cars in the series. Unlike a lot of competition lining material, the
type I am using will work from cold and get better when hot.

I have driven cars with the 4 pot callipers and rear discs, and have
never liked the feel of the brakes. The original setup with the mods as
above I feel are better and keep the correct brake ballance. I would
love to get cars with both setups on the track to compare. At Hart
Racing we have modified several cars to the above setup and the feed
back has been very good. it's also a lot cheaper option.
