Rover 5 Speed in Stag?

The Rover 5-speed will slot into the Stag nicely and with better ratios and
change quality than the Stag 'box is quite good.

Make sure the 'box is off a V8 as this higgher torque rated and has a high
pressure oil pump.

The only problem is likely to be the gearchange extension, apparently the
later Jaguar XJ manual box uses a shorter extension which comes through
your transmission tunnel in the right place, alternatively it's
cut-and-shut.

You will also need to fiddle with the rear 'box mounting and re-calibrate
the speedo drive.
