Re: Anti-squeal plates, Brake Pads

Hello All,

Whilst we are once again on the subject of front disk pads and such, the
"proper" fact finding has been done and documented in an article laboriously
researched by (directly quoting Mr. Mike Allen, Technical Advisor to the Stag
Owners Club) one "self-styled Stag 'expert' and founder member of his own club"
... at hem ... this article will be provided to the digest in text only format
within a week or so. The formal copy of the article, complete with color
pictures, will be emailed to those digest subscribers upon request in Adobe PDF,
and should be available on several web sites within a month or so. Additionally
the article will be published in several Stag related newsletters, but I doubt
you will see it in this depth in the SOC magazine.

Side Commentary (here it comes boys-n-girls):

I am always amazed at the responses by some on this list, when a
hobbyiest/owner has a question whilst holding the components in his hand, is
told that what he is holding and seeing with his own eyes is blarney, and he
must be bloody blind and stupid for considering such a preposterous question.
Way to win friends (customers and club members) and influence enenmies, bravo!

One thing we all must remember, is that the Triumph Stag was designed and built
on a shoestring budget amidst a mirad of company takeovers, money problems,
design changes that had no reliable change control records, and design
modifications being sought and tested by parts vendors that may not have even
been documented when installed on a particular car. A specialist in one country
may not know everything about the export products, configurations, and export
governmental requirements, just as a specialist in an export market will have
different components and car specifications than that of Stags on the UK
continent.

I greatly appreciate the input of ALL the contributors to this digest,
especially those of the specialists that derive their living and pleasure
working on Stags on a daily basis (of which I am extremely envious). As I have
stated before, it is the cross pollination of amature, hobbiest, enthusiast,
specialist, and "ex-PERT-s" that makes this list a good source of quick, mostly
reliable information, and the occasional good belly laugh. To those
specialists, thank you for your continued support, and tolerance of answering
the same question 150 times.

Also, thank you Mr. "self styled Expert and founder of your own club" (who just
happened to be chairman of that `other' club for several years) for giving us
the facts!

;-}

In My Humble Amature Opinion, yours for speculation ...

Regards,
Glenn Merrell
