Speedo

Help!

On way home from Stansted airport, the speedo suddenly went to zero. Mile and Odometers also gave up. It's never played up before.   Fortunately Tacho was still working so I hope I kept just about within the right speed limits.

Does this sound like:
a) terminal failure of the speedo
b) loose connection at the gearbox (though as I only put the gearbox back in 6 months ago and made sure the connection was secure)
c) any other ideas??
