Hi Tim

It looks as though you did not see my e-mail a couple of days ago.  The
diagnosis about the 'sticking of bearing carrier on shaft is spot on, but
the cause is distorted diaphragms which put it off-centre in the first
place.  When old parts have a lot of play it is actually worse and the
carrier can refuse to move altogether.
