Oil pressure gauge

Soon I will no longer be able to say ignorance is bliss as I am adding a
mechanical oil pressure gauge to the Stag next weekend.  If anyone is
interested it is a 0-60 lb/sqin Smiths gauge which is being built for me
from spare parts and is replacing the clock.  The question is, do I have to
bleed the oil up the capillary to the gauge or can I just leave the air in
the tube?
