RE: [ihc] Loadstar for sale in MD

## >> Mac, what happened to her?? Tell her I hope she

she has severe plantar faciitis in both feet. they've known about it since
November 2002, but the Battalion doctor kept giving her ibuprofen and
telling her to "walk it off" so it just got worse. it reached a point where
she could no longer run, walking was painful, she couldn't sleep at night
because of the constant pain in her feet... finally she got a referral to
an orthopedic specialist (you have no idea how difficult that was to
procure), who properly diagnosed her and set her up for treatment and
physical therapy, which her unit commander overruled and her platoon and
squad leaders also ignored. she was given a medical profile to prevent her
from engaging in activities which would exacerbate the problem, and they
ignored *that* too. the end result is that the problem has become so bad
that there is no alternative but surgery.

anyway, she had surgery on her left foot at the end of August. they put her
in a walking cast and on crutches for the first month after surgery, and now
they're weaning her from the crutches and cast. she's been in one kind of
cast or another since the end of May of this year. she wore shoes for the
first time since then last thursday when her doctor approved her to start
walking without the cast. if her recovery is enough (minimum 90%
functionality), they'll operate on the other foot. if not... well, she
could be out of a job. we'll know in January or February (depending on
physical therapy results) whether or not the surgery corrected or at least
alleviated the problem. if it did, then, of course, she'll run the same
risk on the other foot after they operate on that one.

thanks for the kind words. i will let her know.
