It didn't occur to me that everyone wouldn't instantly think of Society
of Automotive Engineers when they saw the SAE.

It's interesting, there are many thing like this that would be illegal
for the auto manufacturers to get together and agree to standardize on
things like this, but their engineers through the SAE can agree for them
to do it because the SAE is considered to be a professional organization
(and it's probably a good situation).
