Well, Dan-o, if you already know the answer, that implies you're offering a
prize for the correct reply :)
The originals have an incredibly tough steel mesh bonded/molded
into/whatever one face. It will bit you pretty good if the rubber gets
chewed up on the edge and exposes the mesh.
