[ihc] T-case Help

Hi all,

I normally don't peep up to often, but as it is i figure i should to try and
get help from the community.

I have 3 Dana 20 t-cases, one is an older twin from my '800 and 2 single
stick from a pair of Scout IIs. Currently I had decided to rebuild the twin
stick and set it up to allow FWD capability. I also decided to rebuild my
T19 transmission as well.

So last week I disassembled the twin stick and one of the single stick Dana
20s. Rebuilt the twin minus the pills for the interlock with the best parts
from both cases. Friday i removed my transmisson and t-case from the
Traveler and rebuild the transmission that night. Saturday i installed
transmission, and installed the twin stick t-case.

The problem, after giveing the details is this. The twin stick would not
engage the rear axle in high gear. I tried many things from going low to
neutral to high while rocking the truck, i tried using the transmission to
spin the gears to try to get things to engage. I tried driving down the road
at speed and shifting, this worked however the moment i engine braked it
poped out of rear high. So today i decided to pull the twin stick and put
back my old single stick t-case.

I got the twin stick on the ground and looked at it and everything shifted
fine, i took off the drive gear from the transmission and everything
interlocked fine and no problems shifting, decided i would leave it off for
now and use the single stick until i found what was wrong with the t-case.

Now i got the single stick up and in the truck, it shifts fine for 4HI and
2HI however will not got to N or 4LO. i'm leaving it alone for now until
somethign obvious or obscure hits me but i thought i would ask and see what
you might suggest. in either case or if they are related.

The transmission was rebuilt using the BCA bearing and seal kit, which BTW
does not include the proper rear seal for the t-case adapter or the top
plate gasket but otherwise is a very nice kit, i used the shop manual and
followed it more or less step by step. This is not my first manual
transmission rebuild either.

The Twin stick was rebuild using new seals only, and the better components
between the twin stick and single stick t-cases. I followed the Shop manual
for the endplay and that was about it. The fwd output has an endplay of
.005" which is between the .001 to .005 allowed in the shop manual, and the
rear output has an endplay of .001" which is again between the .001 to .005
of the shop manual.

I hoped i gave you enough information for some attempt to give me help with
this, and sorry for being a littel long winded.
