[ihc] A Shocking Question

A couple of quickies for the Digest:

1) What do you call that upper shock mount tab thing? You know, the metal
tab/hole that the top of the shock bolts through (rear, driver side, in this
case)? I busted a rear one on Tulsa's best roads (NOT!!) yesterday. Strictly
speaking, I suspect loose hardware worn it down - and extended the hole all
the way outside the tab. Dunno what that's gonna cost me... I'm thinkin' no
more than $10-$20 or so? I can get a new one welded for free. I'm presuming
I want a new 'tab thing' and not try to mess with "saving" the original. I
guess a piece of appropriate angle iron would do, properly located &
drilled. I could do the welding, but not supposed to - with defibrillator
%^}   THAT sounds like a good job for father-in-law! Too much golf is bad
for him anyhow! ;-)

2) I seem to be having chronic probs with loose shock hardware. need to
examine that. I suspect there are washers in place of where lockwashers
should be, or something. Maybe some ThreadlockerR would be a Good Thing?
