---Whatever octane you are using when you time your IH, use that octane from
then on. I think you will find ping less of a problem if you chose a gas
station, fill the tank with your preference of gas (manual says 91 octane
and no more than 4 points above/below), time the vehicle, tune the carb and
stick with the same gas station for fill ups. A lot of people think that
octane means it has some miraculous go-go aditive. Not true unless you are
using too low an octane to begin with. Octane prevents the fuel from
igniting, therefor, it alters your timing. If you use 89 octane in your
vehicle then when the gas stations add their dye or whatnot, it won't effect
you so bad.
