POR-15
I have used the POR-15 product line and after talking to there Tech people
here is what I have learned;
STEP 1; Marine-Clean-- just a HD degreaser you can use anything for this part.
STEP 2; Metal-Ready-- This is a metal treatment product it converts the rust
and etches the bare metal (this is a must for Aluminum, SS and Galv.) The
difference between this product and the others that have been talked about
here is that the Metal-ready DOES NOT leave any residue to prevent rust. The
other products DO leave a residue on the metal and this prevents the POR-15
for sticking to the metal as well. You will notice that when you rinse off
the metal-ready there will be a film of rust when it dries this helps the
POR-15 to bond to the metal.
STEP 3; POR-15 paint
STEP 4; Top coat POR-15 will fade if exposed to sunlight directly.
Later
Tom
