I've heard FG rebounds better than steel.. what I don't know is what the
threshold is between FG rebounding and FG breaking.  Perhaps look at it
this way - if you BREAK a FG panel, will it hold together for a 70mph
jaunt home?  If you munch a steel panel, it probably won't rip off in a
few chunks.  

FG is rumored to be easier to repair.. but steel is too.

BTW, my driver's side door sports a dent (actually, the door handle took
it) from going UP HolyCross last year.. the "hardtop tree".. I used the
door handle to bounce off the tree and pivot around it. ;-)
