ring and pinion and rear wheel bearings

Well I started my ring and pinion installation yesterday. Pulled the
whole axle assembly off the truck and tore it down. Got the new pinion
installed and hopefully set right. Tomorrow I'm ready to take some
measurements for the carrier shims. I couldn't find a case spreader
so I made my own from scrap I had laying around.

when I pulled the axles I noticed the wheel bearing cups were badly
pitted so I decided to replace them. The original bearings have a
tapered roller cone, and a separate cup. at Napa all they have is a
one piece bearing (set 10). A little piece of paper in the new bearing
box said to not use the inner seal.
Is this bearing interchangeable with the old style. What should it be
lubed with. Wheel bearing grease or gear oil. Since they don't use
the inner seal I am assuming they are lubed with gear oil from the
diff.

Thanks
