More Hertz Thoughts



Consider the household 120 VAC at 60 Hz.  Certainly this is an
electromagnetic wave, and not electroacoustic or you'd hear it in the walls.
Sure, at times it *is* heard.  But your ear cannot *detect* it directly
since it is electromagnetic.  It needs a detector, which in the case of
household current, can be as simple as a piece of metal (transformer) or
wire that is caused to vibrate at 60 Hz due to the AC current causing the
magnetic field to actually "move" the metal at the 60 Hz rate.

Enuf Already.
