Dan: I said the same thing bow hunting for elk there, not far from Crested Butte. Every time I tried to climb the steep mountainsides, I not only kicked my heart into high gear (it was over 9,000 feet!) but I would go up two feet over the shale and slide back one. The Sierras just aren't like that. Tom H.
