Re: Plastic windshield

Steve,
I thought the same thing. But, according to the article, this new Speed
Glass has a very hard coating that wouldn't scratch even when the magazine
people rubbed steel wool on it.
Now, I think that a test is in order and I'll be the Guinea Pig. I am
planning on using speed glass. I want it when I go to Alaska so I don't
have to carry an extra windshield for the ride up the Dalton Highway. I
should get a good test of it's strength while I'm there. Then we'll see how
it holds up over time.
I called Percy's up right after that article came out and I think they
quoted me $110 for a windshield. All they needed was a tracing of the
outline of the stock windshield. Once one of us does that, they should have
it on file. The delay is that I don't have a windshield to trace. I will
later this summer though.
