How could you DARE let something like that pass by my eyes, Dan??

Hmm. That is a bit of unsprung weight.. *AND* something else to catch
on the rocks.. BUT..

Problem is, you'd need to eliminate the whole yoke setup between the
dana 20 and the pinion yoke. You'd also need a "remote mount" kit on
the Dana 20 ($475 from AA)..

A custom rear output shaft on the Dana 20 could allow the pinion shaft
to go INTO the 'case instead of attaching a yoke to the rear output.
You could cut off the front output to save some weight. Some type of
gusset or brace would be needed to keep the Dana 20 solidly attached to
the axle. Tip the pinion up for a CV joint would also serve to move
that transfer case up and away from the rocks some.

have to use air shifters on the 'case.

The front could have clearance problems - would the Dana 20 be hitting
the exhaust manifolds or motor mounts?

Unsprung weight - I think I'll have more than enough unsprung weight
when I get around to installing the Dana 60 that arrived in front of my
shop today.. <VBG>.. 4.10, full float, from a Ford 3/4T pickup (late
70s).

Y'know, Dan.. I have a couple spare '20s...
