Re: Possible Electrical Short

Neil:

This is symptomatic of the famous "bulk head connector" problems.

Start your Scout and get behind the wheel. Have someone "wiggle" the wire
loom where it goes through the firewall into the interior. (My '76 has two
connectors just on the passenger side of center on the firewall, on near
the top and the other, just under that). Watch for your amp gauge
flickering or headlights flickering, etc. If this test shows bulk head
connector problems, either: 1) Wire around them, 2) pull them apart, clean
with electrical cleaner, put electrical grease on them and reconnect or
best, 3) replace them with screw together "amphenol" or similar connectors
available via mail order or a local electrical supply shop.
