Model 1500/500's and Loadstars...

Man, I have totally forgotten what it was like to sit and drive in a
Loadstar. My Uncle is in the process of rebuilding a 1700 series Loadstar
with at 345 and 5 speed with at two-speed rear axle. It is a Flatbed, and
has a factory dual tank setup on it. He purchased it for something like
500 bucks...The body is in INCREDIBLE shape (its a 1974) and works
perfectly, except for a few bugs he is ironing out. (8000lb fronts,
20,000lb rears)

There is no doubt that the Loadstar harkens to an even older era in truck
design. Having the chance to compare the model 500 cab to the Loadstar,
the 500 is SUBSTANTIALLY roomier, and much easier to enter/exit. As the
500 with the dump body was sold to a fellow who will be restoring it to new
conditon, I am not quite as upset at not being able to buy it for myself.
I still see it around sometimes.

Mind you, the Loadstar makes me drool anyways....There's lots of room on
those trucks for dual fuel systems or just about anything you would like to
bolt onto it. Perfect for a medium-duty wrecker work...IH only, of
course...
