Exhaust donuts
OK, I blew an exhaust donut last Saturday while wheelin' for Christmas
trees... so I run down to NAPA and ask for the donut.. and recall something
about 80s 4cyl Chrysler products...
The Chrysler donut has a larger overall diameter. Because of this (and $12
vs $6) I opted for the IH replacement. Anyone have experience with this
Chrysler (I think it was from a 2.2L 4cy) gasket? Does the larger (outside)
diameter cause a problem?
Also found that... after replacing the donut and bolting the driver's side
exhaust back up, I must've moved the exhaust some... the clutch is EASY to
push... compared to darn near FORCING it down while wheelin'... my guess is
that the packed up snow pushed the exhaust pipe over enough to get in the
way of the clutch pivot shaft.. so I was pushing down on the exhuast pipe
every time I hit the clutch...
Others have this problem?
Racer news: got the p/s box off and the column out.. started unbolting the
727 from the crossmember.. then found out it has bolts through the trans to
the xmember.. need two wrenches on it (vs. the studs on my T19 and T15s)...
complicated by the fact it doesn't have axles or springs and is lying on the
frame... some days I *really* like my 4" lift & 33s on the '77... makes
things like this so easy and I contort my arm less...
