Since the 392 was never offered in the Scout, you won't find it in the
Scout parts book. But the Travelall parts book shows no difference for
any IH V-8, so I appears there should be no problem.

But I do see one problem with your plan.  Would you consider the 3 speed
transmission a good choice for towing your trailer?  That's essentially
what you'll have with the wide T-19.  It's got 3 gears for on-road use
and a creeper gear for use in vehicles that were built with the single
speed transfer case and no low range.  I have trailered another Scout
extensively with close-ratio 4 speeds and can say you will need the
smaller steps between gears for good towing.  

I'm a 4 speed fan, but this is one case where the T-407 might serve you
better.  If you go with a manual, I'd think about a 12" clutch which I
believe will bolt to the flywheel, but I don't know what that will do for
pedal effort.

What axle ratios do you have?
