Is that gas I smell?
Well,
Here's a story for everyone...
Sat night leaving the bar still in full costume..
The scout was bogging down... really rough idle...
and I could smell unburned fuel from the exhaust...
I though a bad plug wire or something...
anyway.. I made it home... it ran ok on the highway...
Next morning I go at look at it...
It starts up fine.. I rev it up a bit...
No problem.. oh well must have been just one of those things...
So later in the day I go to drive to a friends house.. couple miles away at
the most...
and about half way there is starts acting up again... and I still smell
gas...
so I get there and I'm waiting for her to come down I pop the hood...
"HOLY SH^&!!!!!"
I got gas all over the place....
It was poring from the tube that goes to the canister filter.... It came
lose and was flowing out...
First thing first.. park and shut it off... Let all the gas evaporate...
anyway... I go to look at it later... Tab the float bowl... maybe it's
sticking...
Start it up... it's fine.....MMMM "What the!!!"
I start on my way home.. and about half way it starts up again...
Well.. I know it could be the needle and seat messed up or the float
sticking...
no big deal.. and as long as I run above idle it doesn't leak out but it
still runs bad...
Anyway Moral of the story is...
You smell gas.... TAKE A LOOK before you just assume it's nothing...
I could have killed myself... or burnt the Scout really bad....
