Tony,
What are your eventual plans for this rig? Lift?
I've run 31x10.50 BFGs on both of my Scout IIs when they were stock. No
rubbing that I recall... and since I installed the lift and moved to
33x12.50s, I'm quite familiar with rubbing.. :-(
Do you have a set of 15x6.5 or 15x7 wheels at home w/ 5 on 5.5? ;)
I kinda lucked out. I bought my 31s mounted on some factory Ford rims for
$225 with fairly good tread left. The wheels wouldn't clear my front hubs,
so I traded the stock Ford steel wheels for 4 15x8 chrome modular mags.
They LOOK much better, and they let me run my 31s, and made the total price
$325.
I lucked out with the 15x8 wheels... when I purchased my 33s, I was able to
mount the 33x12.50s on the *same* 15x8 wheels. Note that 33x12.50
recommends an 8.5" wheel, but I know of many others that run the same
combination... in any manner, I had the wheels, and I was able to use 'em.
Now, I bought a spare tire and a brand new 15x SEVEN wheel (unknowingly).. I
couldn't mount a 33x12.50 on *that* narrow of a rim, so the 15x7 has a
Buckshot Mudder in a 33x10 size (or 285/75R15 or similar.. can't remember
the sidewall marks).
