Look, John, all I know is when I have had a leaking hose fitting on my
PS I just wrapped the fitting in Teflon tape and this stoped the leak. I
guess the tape filled the space where the fluid leaked out past the
threads. I have no scientific knowledge of how this works, just that it
does and has for me any way.
