Re: ihc-digest V6 #144
Ken, Mike, et all,
I just finished my spring lift install, just about. It took 2 good
full days. I could probable do it in one day now that I know what to
expect. The only thing that isn't done is the rear brake line hasn't
been replaced because I couldn't get the hard line off the rubber. The
hard line started to twist and the nut was stripping. So, that will have
to wait until next week when I get a flaring tool and cut off the end
and redo it.
Mike, when you do your's get a grinding wheel. I couldn't get some of
the u-bolts off because the threads had been worn flat. I had to cut the
bolts in half with the wheel. The bolts are hardened so you can't use a
sawzaw for more than one bolt.
The previous owner had torn the rear spring perch on the drivers side
front spring. When he had the perch put back on it was twisted in ward
so the spring is twisted a little cockied. This makes putting the axle
on difficult.
Also, you need to take a torch to the frame fixed perches and a
hammer and spead the sides a little to accomidate the shoulders of the
bushings.
When you put the Doecsh Tech shocks on there are a bunch of little
sleaves that go in the bushings of the shocks. Only one fits the 1/2"
bolt the other is to small. Don't just shove the sleave in check it
first. I ended up not putting a sleave in the bottom of my rear shocks.
I put the small sleave in first then tried to put the bolt in. It wasn't
easy getting the sleave back out.
When I think of the other things I'll post them. I can't think of
anything right now because I have a bunch of noise people here and I
can't think of a thing.
