trans problem

What's wrong with my 77 Scout's auto tranny?  There are a variety of
symptoms,
It does one at a time:

selector in any position - trans in drive
selector in reverse - dragging badly, need mucho throttle to move
all positions OK, except reverse slips badly
all positions OK, except drive slips badly
The last one is the most frequent.
When cold (ie run for less than 2 minutes) it works fine.
