Sealing the gauges with silicone...

John H,

That's a great idea about sealing the gauges, but...there always is one...
what about the heat generated by the ammeter, and such? I imagine the bulbs
get pretty hot too! Incidentally the bulb sockets are up to $1.79 ea.
I'm hoping to find them cheaper. The manager of the AutoZone says he'll
order all I want (like a box etc. since they only stock 4 or 5 on the hook).
The clock has a large vent in the top, do the remaining gauges need this?

I'll look at the possibility definitely,

P.S. Dennis and others! I found the camera!!!! It ended up in a bag in the
back of my '75 Travelall! Let's just hope now that the film chems aren't toast
from being subjected to the oven I live in called Tucson! We'll see in two
days, you can bet I'll let everyone know!

I still need the fan shroud to get my 74 on the road. Howard if you have any
ideas, I'd love to hear them. I was going to go to a sheet metal place
and have them fab one. shouldn't be too hard, and maybe $50? Tucsons
wrecking yards are stripped clean of fan shrouds of any type. I'll make more
calls tomorrow, but I'm running out of options, for the 2 year only part that
I need. Who the heck throws out a fan shroud? Where in the heck is the
original?

Talk to you all soon, and Dennis, thanks for checking. Maybe they'll
find someone elses and we can look at their pics?

-Joel (who truly is in awe of the IH family this internet creates!)
