So Much for the manual

Folks:

I was perusing my new "Truck Service Manual - Scout II XLC Series
1976-1977" that I picked up from Binder Books at the NWBR. I was
refering to it to make sure I answered the last post about the high temp
vacuum control valve correctly. I was hoping to find what temperature
caused that valve to open, but didn't readily find it.

Well, lo and behold, I found the diagram under "Fuel System" for "Vacuum
Hose Locations on V-304/345 Engines with 2210C Carbuertor In Scout
Vehicles (Not Sold in California). Yep........ err..... wait! This is
the identical underhood diagram my Scout has under it's hood EXCEPT the
one under the hood says nothing about being (Not Sold in California).
Instead, it refers to 150, 500 and XLC series Scouts. Both diagrams show
where the vapor canister connects and indicate that this is for
"California Scouts Only".

Now, I know my Scout was originally sold in California, right up in
Stockton, you know - The Big Valley? Further research in the manual
comes up with a different diagram for a 304 "Sold in California Only".
It has a 2245C carb AND AIR injection. Sheesh. And they wonder why the
smog mechanics get confused!

Hmmmm..... I just got this wonderfull manual and have already found a
discrepency. And this is original IHC!

Yuk!

Tom H.
