Hi Steve,

Do you mean that working A/C isn't a necessity?  Tell that to my wife!

Seriously though I understand your point about the water pump being
critical so two belts are used for safety.  Sounds very IHC to me so I
could believe that.  But other manufacturers use one belt for the water
pump (that's not to say that they are correct).  Another point - My
emissions air pump also runs off of the water pump pulley so with that
and the A/C compressor I still think the two alternator belts are for
friction(or wear?) considerations to run the accessories that would
overload one belt.  Just a thought anyway.
