Do you hear a "click" when you activate the Solenoid? It should "click"
as the contacts are engaged. No clicks means the solenoid is not
working. A click and no starter means the contacts are dirty or worn
out. A click and the starter engaging means it should now go and you
should probably go somewhere. The whole assembly comes out with two
bolts and is easy to repair. You need a soldering iron to remove the
solenoid cap. A lot starter problems are dirt and mud related. Try
pulling it apart and cleaning the parts very well. Watch out for the
washers at the end of the starter armature they are critical and easily
fall off and get lost if you are not looking.
