	Removing the stuff from the top of the shifter is pretty easy.
the knob should just unscrew, although this can sometimes be a pain if the
thing hasn't been turned since it was first installed.  Then, there is a
small pin that goes through the shaft of the shifter.  Slide this out
(carefully...if it gets bent it will stick) and remove the
shift-lock-thingamajig.  Slide the boot down over the shifter, and reverse
the process.
