The K & N filter is very simple.  It looks just like a typical paper 
filter except that it is a single layer of cloth which is oiled with a 
small amount of "filter oil".  In order to clean it, you just wash it.  

Washing takes out the oil and the dirt goes with it.  You then dry it and 
re-oil.  The only down-side is that you have to wait for it to dry, no 
shortcuts with compressed air.  That would blow it apart.
