RE: <e28> power steering hoses - flow restrictor?



Hello, The power steering whine will only get worse in the near future.  I 
had the same problem and was a stumper until someone on this digest advised 
that there is a donut shape filter at the very bottom of the power steer 
reservoir.  It cost me $10.00 and the problem was solved. I don't know if 
the procedure is in the manual but just remove the clips to the screen and 
the solid cover at the bottom of the reservior and you will see the filter.  
I is really easy after all the fluid is removed.

Well unless I hear otherwise from the list experts, I intend to ignore it. I
have no leaks, but just a hint of power steering pump whine...

I only know because some years ago, I cut one open. Didn't take any
measurements. It is there to reduce flow noise, I believe.
