Good plan.  That is the perfect wheel/tire combo for an
E28.  Those TRX thingies suck.

Wheels from most of the 5/6/7 series will fit.  This
includes the E23, E24, E28, E32, E34 and E38.  You have
to be careful with the offset and should really try to
keep it at the stock 20mm.  Even some of the 23mm offset
wheels will cause the tires to rub on the front shocks
with some tire models.  Offsets much less than 20mm will
cause a rub on the rear fender lips.  This might even
occur with 20mm wheels and 225 tires -- you may have to
roll/trim your rear fender lips.

You can use the late model E39 5-series wheels, but you
will need hubcentric rings since the hole in the center
is larger.  Supposedly you can get these rings from Tire
Rack.
