E39 Sticking Accel pedal

Fellow digesters,
My accelerator pedal is beginning to stick on my '97 E39. Anyone have
this happen before? If so, please let me know how I can fix the
sticking...can I just grease the cable or do I have to install a new
one.
Please advise.
