I'm not the best at troubleshooting these things,
but I feel compelled to offer the following:

First: Do you have a Bentley? You'll need it if
you want to tackle this yourself.

Second: Don't waste your money on fancy plugs
hoping that they will fix your problem. Your engine
is quite happy with normal Bosch plugs. If it runs
badly on known good NORMAL plugs, the problem is
elsewhere.

Third: There are tests to determine whether your
ignition wires are in good shape. Perform those
tests before you waste money replacing them. See
above about getting a Bentley...

Fourth: Get onto

There a bunch of real E34 devotees there that will
likely be of great help.

Good luck,
Mike Kohlbrenner
