323 vs. 325

Does anyone know what engine modifications BMW made to the 2.5 I-6 from 2000
to 2002. I have a 2000 323i and I just drove a 2002 325Ci as loaner. The
325Ci has a wonderful throaty sound and nice throttle response. Is the
sound due to an exhaust change or intake or something else? Will adding a
CAI to my 323i produce a simlar sound? Thanks.
