L jetronic O2 sensor

I installed a 85 L jetronic efi on my 1974 2002. car idles fine with O2 sensor disconnected. With O2 sensor hooked up the idle increases a little and oscillates. It also bucks on accelaration(lean? ). Any info to the reason for oscillating engine idle and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
